The city of Ozark, Arkansas, is home to the beautiful Mulberry Mountain, "Located on Scenic Hwy 23, the "Pig Trail"" (1). If you enjoy the outdoors and camping, this would be a great place for you too visit. This analysis focuses on the brochure and the lodging and events that Mulberry Mountain offers.
The brochure is divided into four different sections. The first section being the cover page, tells you a little about Mulberry Mountain and gives you scenic pictures to grab your attention. The second page is divided into four different subsections; Lodge and Cabins, RV and Tent Campground, Convention Center, and Activities include. The third page summarizes information about the "Mulberry Mountain Lodging and Camping Rates" (3). The final page of the brochure provides a map of the location of Mulberry Mountain, and the contact information.
The cover of the brochure is designed in a colorful eye catching way. The first thing you notice on the brochure would be the Mulberry Mountain logo. On the logo Mulberry Mountain is in black and has the largest font, making the subject obvious and recognizable. In smaller font on the logo is "Lodging &Events" (1). This logo shows to us that Mulberry Mountain is the main point of the brochure and also tells us about the lodging and events that are held there. Beneath the logo is a list of different activities used in white bolded letters; "lodging-Campground-Events-Hiking-ATV Trails-Fishing-Canoeing-Wildlife Watching-and much more in the Ozark National Forest!" (1). This list shows us a few of the things that Mulberry Mountain offers visitors to do while staying. Laid out under the list of activities are three pictures that take place at mulberry mountain; Canoeing, ATV Trails, and a hiking area. The last bit of information on the cover page is the location "Located on Scenic Hwy 23, the "Pig Trail" Ozark, Arkansas" (1), used in large white bolded letters, and the email address "www.mulberrymountainlodge.com" (1) , used in smaller white bolded letters. This cover to the brochure conveys the idea that Mulberry Mountain is a great place to visit.
The next section of the brochure is divided into four subsections; Lodge and Cabins, RV and Tent Campground, Convention Center, and Activities include. Each section has pictures of the sites and have a paragraph below them written in black small bolded font. The information provided to us helps us get a more understanding of Mulberry Mountain and what it offers.
The first paragraph of this page tells us a little about the lodge and cabins. The brochure states that it is "Open year round, Mulberry Mountain offers a one of a kind lodge and several unique cabins. Each cabin is fully equipped and provide breathtaking views of the surrounding Ozark Mountains!" (2). The second paragraph on RV Tent and Campground states," Enjoy beautiful wooded sites with electric & water hookups, BBQ grills, and easy access to septic disposal! Featuring scenic views, fishing ponds, horse stalls & trails, and great hiking/ATV tails! and a clean new shower house." (2). The convention center being the third paragraph, states "Plan your wedding, corporate gathering, reunion, or other function in our amazing new 6,000 Sq. Ft. convention center! Visit our website for rates!" (2). Last but not least, the fourth paragraph on Activities Include, " Canoeing/Kayaking/Rafting, Ozark Highland trail, ATV Trails, Horse Stalls & Trails, Fishing, Hunting, Bicycling, Repelling, Geo-Caching, Wildlife Watching, and much More!" (2). Each one of these paragraphs has its on topics and gives us an over view of Mulberry Mountain in just a few short sentences. These paragraphs and pictures are used to grab your attention to visiting Mulberry Mountain.
The third page of the brochure is titled "Mulberry Mountain Lodging and Camping Rates" (3). The section of the brochure gives a short overview of each cabin, lodge, or RV and Tent Camping. Each paragraph describes the cabin, the amount of guest it will hold, the price for each night, and the appliances that come with the place. The titles of each paragraph are used in medium sized bolded black font, and the description is used in smaller black font. At the bottom of this page it states that "All cabins are non-smoking, cancellations accepted no later than 10 days prior to check-in. Sorry no pets" (3). This statement shows to us a few ground rules that Mulberry Mountain has set for its visitors. This part of the brochure is very important to choosing where you will be staying while on the trip and which place is best for you.
The last page of this brochure is contained with the location, a map, contact information, pictures, and a couple of details of Mulberry Mountain. At the top of the page in bold black and red letters, is " DON'T MISS THIS UNFORGETTABLE SCENERY!" (4). Beneath that they have put a couple of pictures of the mountain and trees to bring your attention to the wonderful scenery. In a small box below these pictures is the contact information, the address, and a short statement about the their website they don't want you too miss. The last part of the brochure could be one of the most important parts of the brochure, the map and address. This map and address will help you discover the destination of Mulberry Mountain. The last page of this brochure us overall probably the most important page.
Overall this brochure will likely be viewed by those who enjoy they outdoors and camping, or just want a nice quite get away. The brochure does a very good job of grabbing peoples attention and describing Mulberry Mountain in a brief way. Most readers of this brochure will most likely give Mulberry Mountain a positive report.

~A Letter of Concern~ (A paper I wrote for my English class)

The Lack of Volunteers in our Society
As a volunteer for the Adopt a Grandparent organization, I have noticed the lack of visitors these people are receiving. In today's society, we as humans feel it is not important to volunteer or that we are too busy. This is a serious concern to me because organizations all over the nation like Adopt a Grandparent, need volunteers.
In today's society, we should all do some form of volunteer work, but most of us do not. Many of us feel we don't have time to take out of our schedules to help someone in need. I do understand  people today have busy work schedules, have kids to take care of, and many other chores that have to be done daily. When we have a break from our crazy lives, all we want to do is relax and spend time with our families.
But can't we take sometime out of our schedules to help someone else? There are many ways that we can make time for someone else, like cutting back on shopping for ourselves or watching football. There are so many people and organizations in the world that need people to volunteer and help them out. If we just took time at least once a month out of our busy schedules to help someone else, that would make a world of a difference not only for them, but for us also.
One example for an organization in need of volunteers, would be Adopt a Grandparent. Those who live in nursing homes, don't receive many visitors today. The elderly age group needs just as many visitors and volunteers as any other organization out there. You may be thinking, "well what can I do too help someone out like a grandparent?" There are many answers to that question, like listening to their stories, playing games with them, taking walks with them, or just simply by being there and showing them that someone does love and care about them. If we could just take that little time out of our busy schedules, then maybe we could help at least one person in someway.
Adopt a grandparent may not be an organization you would want to volunteer at, but don't give up on finding an organization. Somewhere there is an organization you belong to where you could make a difference. Volunteering in anyway is very important for our society and can help shape our future. If you start now by helping someone in need, you could lead many other people in that direction too, making the world a better place. Give volunteering a chance. It could make a difference in your life and you could make a difference in someone else's life also. So take some time out of your busy schedule and do some volunteer work at least once a month. You never know how much you can do until you try.

My beginning

Hey!

Welcome to my blog, my name is KK and I am a freshman in college. These first few weeks of college have been pretty interesting, and I learned real quick that college is nothing like high school.
Since college has started a lot has changed for me. Most of my time is now dedicated to school and work, but I still find time to do the things I love like coaching volleyball, scrapbooking, and being active in my church. When I started college I told myself I wasn't going to join any clubs or organizations, but after the first week of school I had changed my mind and joined to clubs and I am now in the organization called "Adopt a Grandparent."
I chose to join Adopt a Grandparent because I felt like that was were I belong and something I was interested in. I really enjoy helping the elder and listening to all their stories that have to tell. Since I am majoring in nursing and wanting to work with older people, I thought well why don't I start now by joining Adopt a Grandparent. I thought that if I joined this organization I could really help an elderly person out and be there for them. A lot of elderly people don't have family who visits them much or have someone who is interested to talk to them. To me I enjoy listening to their life stories because it is interesting to me to hear what all they went through and still go through today. Each and every one of us can learn something from them if we just take the time to listen. I wish I had visited my great-grandfather more before he passed away because I never took the time to listen to him and I never was interested until now. Joinging this club I feel like I have a second chance at that with someone new.
This next year is going to have many great experiences and memories that I will never forget.

         So until next time,
                       KK :) <3
